Here at Unified World, we know that your structured cabling system won’t stay like new as over the years desks are moved, computers are changed and additional outlets are added.

All these changes mean that cabinets become untidy and cables become redundant. We therefore offer a network maintenance service that incorporates the following and more: -

Adds, Moves and Changes

Floor boxes are rarely relocated with office moves and employee changes, thus leaving them improperly placed and leaving desks without enough data outlets.

Our services provide new data outlets to floor boxes or moving floor boxes from an existing location to a new location to suit your desk layout. We also move the desk and computer accessories, this gives you the extra advantage of having the network up and running the next working day. Unlike other companies we do not charge extra to operate these moves and changes outside of typical hours and at weekends, it is standard for us to arrange for these works to be done out of hours unless you prefer conventional weekdays.

Network Upgrade

If you require your existing network to be upgraded, then we can provide you with a new cabling installation, re patch the new installation and remove the old network cabling providing room for future installations.

We will remove smaller inadequate cabinets that have become overcrowded and replace with new larger cabinets that incorporate all your active equipment whilst leaving room for future expansion. This leaves the cabinet in an organised condition that is easier to maintain.

Network Audit

If you are about to move premises or if you are just moving offices you should make sure your new infrastructure is working correctly. A cabling audit can identify redundant cables and faulty cabling, we can then correct these faults to give the outlet life once again.

For clients that are staying in their original building and using their existing network, we also offer the services to test and document your current cabling system.

Benefits of Fibre Optic Cabling are:-

  • Unlike copper cabling, fibre can be run with power with no interference making it a flexible solution being able to be run anywhere from building to building, through ceiling voids, under floors etc.
  • Where copper has a 90 metre maximum cable run, fibre can be almost unlimited.
  • Fibre cabling is much more secure, especially useful for companies with high amounts of sensitive information.
  • Fibre can also cater for a very high level of bandwidth.

Telephone System Cabling

Unified World know that telephones are a vital part of any business, with this in mind it is important to use a professional such as ourselves for telephone cabling.

We can design and install your telephone cabling as a standalone project or together with data cabling requirements.

Telephones use the same type of category cable as data cabling. This can be Cat3, Cat5, Cat5e and Cat6 and higher. For most small legacy applications Cat3 cable will be more than sufficient as little bandwidth is required on telephone lines, however in a VoIP environment that requires a network with internet access, then Cat5 and higher is usually a good choice and equally cost effective.

A professional installation isn't always required, for example in a particularly small office, at home, or in a high street shop yet in many other environments where an advanced network is required combining telephones and internet for new and pre existing systems, using trained professionals is a good idea as the networks can easily become very complex.

It is often a common misconception that BT need to install such a network, there is no need at all for BT to install any internal wiring, here at Unified World we can install brand new network points, additions to existing networks, move/change sockets and re-wire your existing cabling all around the day to day running of your organisation.

Choosing a Data Cabling Solution

Cat 5e Structured Data Cabling (Class D)

Generally speaking Cat5e cabling is the most common form of data cabling suitable for most applications up to 100Mbps with a 100MHz classification and up to 100m distances. Cat5e cabling is also mainly used for telephone cabling.

Cat 6 Structured Data Cabling (Class E)

Typically installed in most new build premises, this Cat 6 cabling is becoming increasingly popular with capabilities up to 1000Mbps and a bandwidth of 250Mhz. More importantly, there isn't a major price difference between Cat5e and Cat6 cabling making this form of cabling a good future investment for any business looking to upgrade its structured cabling system.

Cat 6a Structured Data Cabling (Class EA)

This form of cabling is a more costly than Cat5e or Cat 6 cabling yet a frequently used solution in data centres, financial and medical environments. With capabilities up to 1000Mbps and a bandwidth of 500Mhz, this really is a future proof investment.
